Overview:
The Production Infrastructure team delivers highly scalable and available infrastructure to support a suite of SaaS applications deployed in both hybrid and PaaS cloud environments.
As a Cloud Engineer on the Production Infrastructure team, you would be responsible for the design, implementation, support and monitoring of a suite of 24x7x365 production application environments. Candidates would preferably have some background across physical and virtual infrastructure stacks as well as significant hands-on AWS and container services experience. Applications are deployed across both Linux and Windows environments with multiple database back-ends and are a mix of both PaaS and Hybrid deployments in both stand-alone and containerized environments (Kubernetes).
Principal Responsibilities:
- The selected candidate will provide support across a global, multi-region AWS deployment as we migrate our systems from physical data centers dispersed around the globe.
- Design, implement, document and maintain our AWS infrastructure in a highly evolving hybrid cloud infrastructure
- Facilitate the design, implement and documentation of our migration to Kubernetes clusters (EKS).
- Possess a deep regard and understanding for the highly available nature of customer facing production systems where the expectation is that we maintain uptime and meet SLAs under any conditions.
- Maintain excellent communications with management and across the team on all tasks and projects.
- Adhere to and mature the best practices for the support and deployment of our infrastructure across the enterprise stack (EC2, EKS, RDS, ALB/ELB, etc.)
- Facilitate in the development and ongoing management of our automation including Ansible, CloudFormation etc.
- Monitor environment for abnormal performance, failures or unauthorized access and take required steps to minimize downtime or loss of data.
- Perform system administration for systems within areas of scope.
- Assist in the maintenance and enforcement of system standards and help maintain regulatory compliance
- Perform and report on proactive testing and automation to ensure proper functioning and reliability of our systems.
- Maintain documentation and procedures, reporting to management as required.
- Work in supporting complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires the application of scientific methods and an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and/or 4+ years’ work experience in related technologies.
- Experience managing AWS resources including connectivity with on-prem resources and between AWS regions
- Experience managing AWS accounts and security
- Experience managing AWS EC2, EKS, ALB/ELB, Route53, VPC, SG etc.
- Experience in developing and maintaining process automation including Cloud Formation and Ansible.
- Some experience managing virtualized environments and systems across many vendors, but with an emphasis on VMWare helpful.
- Demonstrate functional understanding of hardware, software, and networking components of local, wide area, and complex PaaS based network concepts.
- Experience in the use of and support of monitoring and log collection systems.
- Identifying, determining, and correcting systems performance degradation - RCA.
- Highly adaptable to changes in technology and business requirements.
- Addressing and solving “multi-layer” system problems.
- Goal oriented self-starter who is highly ethical
- Must be able to lift 20lb or more over their head as to rack equipment.
