We are looking for:
Metadata Engineer
Location: Belgrade
Seven Bridges Genomics is building the most advanced cloud computing platform for genomics data analysis. We enable scientists to analyze genomic data faster and more efficiently than ever, so that they can focus on making progress in genomics and personalized medicine. We are also building a Cancer Genomics Cloud Pilot for the National Cancer Institute.scale. This allows them to focus on advancing their fields and making personalized medicine a reality.
Efficient metadata management is one of the main requirements in both genomics and bioinformatics, firstly because of the domain complexity and secondly because of the multiple relations, multiple nomenclatures, standards and ambiguity of the data.
Seven Bridges Genomics provides a robust solution for metadata management system in the context of Cancer Genomics Cloud Pilots .
There is a need to integrate several large genomics data-sets within our platform. One of them, The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) data set represents one of the largest cancer studies available today with ~3 million different files across 33 disease studies. This also includes exponential progression of the
number of files available to the public with emphasis on high-throughput next-generation sequencing.
An ideal candidate would:
- have a strong passion for Information retrieval problems and solutions.
- have the will to learn basic bioinformatics, biomedical and clinical concepts.
- be proficient in Python and/or Java, data extraction, analysis and ETL.
- have a basic knowledge of NoSQL databases and REST API's.
And we also think that…
- basic knowledge of graph databases, triplestores, graph algorithms and inference engines is a plus.
- feeling comfortable with at least one major *NIX platform (Linux, OS/X, FreeBSD, etc.) is a plus.
- experience with database management systems, tooling and automation best practices is a big plus.
- being familiar with technologies from the Semantic Web stacks: Ontologies, RDF, SPARQL, Linked Data is awesome.
- experience with interactive visualization and infographic development is a plus.
- basic knowledge of Bioinformatics and/or related fields is a plus.
We value our team more than anything else, and we like to learn from each other and share knowledge. In return, we offer an open work environment, flexible working hours, and great work conditions. If you would like to work with us and help us build the next generation of genomic analysis tools, please send your resume/CV and a cover letter.
Thank you for your interest in Seven Bridges Genomics, however, due to the high volume of applications we will only contact those candidates whose skills and qualifications most closely suit our needs.
Deadline for applications: 01.01.2017.
