ESSENTIAL PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:
The primary role of the network architect is the operation and the design of a stable and resilient computing environment for the operation of the company’s business systems. This includes installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and diagnosing troubles with all network hardware, software, and communication links. The senior network architect should pioneer the advancement of technological innovations with research, vendor interface, and pilot studies. In addition, the senior network architect should lead in the selection and qualification of networking equipment and solutions to meet our technical needs. Analyze and resolve end-user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end-user training where applicable. Network architects should be capable of leading business unit-wide changes of these systems with project management skills while minimizing the impact on the business.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead changes to infrastructure that minimize business impact with good communications as needed
- Conduct research on network products and services in support of network infrastructure initiatives. Maintain industry awareness of available solutions and implementations.
- Work with others both inside and outside the IT department to meet their requirements.
- Perform server acquisition, configuration, installation, and interfacing.
- Manage all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs and UPSs, associated software, call management systems, voice mail, interactive voice response, and video conferencing systems including their upgrades and enhancements as needed.
- Administer and maintain user accounts, permissions, access rights, and hardware and software upgrades.
- Perform diagnosis and develop a plan to resolve network and server connectivity and performance problems while minimizing maintenance man hours.
- Perform server and security audits, system backups, and recovery.
- Manage network projects which can span from server upgrade or installation to telephone system installation and replacement. Coordinate with all involved and minimize the impact on the production environment.
- Assist in the planning and managing of the budget for network hardware and software procurement.
- Design and support the telecommunications infrastructure and its associated software, including PBXs, call management systems, voice mail, interactive voice response, and video conferencing systems.
- Plan telecommunications strategies for company call centers to ensure that efficient and effective customer interaction is achieved.
- Proactively monitor, identify, and correct capacity and performance issues for telecom and data traffic to ensure continued, uninterrupted operation of all systems. Develop long-range communications plans and evolutionary paths in keeping with business strategies.
- Conduct testing and develop disaster recovery plans to detect faults, and minimize malfunctions and backup systems.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and training plans for the telecommunication system’s appropriate use.
- Where necessary, liaise with equipment vendors during installations, acquisition negotiations, and hardware performance issues.
- Provide overall ticket management and triage as needed. Escalate tickets as needed should problems arise.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 5 years hands-on network administration experience
- Bachelor’s or Degree in a related field required (alternative experience dropped)
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
- Multiple MCSE VMWare, NetApp, and or Cisco certifications are required
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Prepare a systems design from loose user-provided specifications.
- Quickly perform root cause analysis in non-functioning systems
- Excellent project management skills.

- Ability to utilize available resources to research problem characteristics for possible resolutions

COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:
- MS office including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Excellent MS Visio and MS Project skills
- Conversant with the latest desktop computer and server technology
- Working knowledge of currently used systems
- PowerShell scripting
- Citrix Xenapp/Virtual Apps & Desktop Management
- MS Exchange 2013/O365 in an enterprise environment with 5+ year of experience
- Knowledge of telephone systems
- VMWare
- SAN Management
