Senior Full-Stack Engineer // API-driven applications at Xola
At Xola, we believe that small and medium businesses deserve the same world class enterprise software solutions that corporations enjoy. We are passionate about creating delightful software that empowers privately-owned businesses in the tours and activities space to excel at what they do.
WHAT WE'RE BUILDING
Xola is a booking and distribution platform for businesses offering activities and lifestyle experiences.
Our software manages back-office and online reservations, serving as a point-of-sale solution that handles payment processing, calendaring/scheduling, inventory and guide management, and customer relationship management.
Xola's mission is to become the leading point of sale and global distribution system for businesses offering activities.
Xola's vision is to build universally-accessible software that fosters socio-economic exchange between people of different cultures, ultimately cultivating a more equitable world.
We have a passionate team and most importantly--passionate customers
At Xola, you'll be part of a small, but elite team of rockstar engineers. This is a great opportunity to build an incredibly disruptive technology platform from the ground up.
Our products are completely API driven which allows for an incredible amount of flexibility and creativity around the ecosystem we build. We love experimenting with new technologies and doing mash-ups with our APIs and would expect you to be imaginative with them also.
We consider design and usability to be paramount for the success of our product -- both, for our front-end app and our APIs. We have a brilliant French designer whose designs make it to the top 5 of Dribbble every time -- you'll love his work! You're expected to be creative and throw in you're own "special sauce" into our products -- whether it's beautiful animations or fun easter eggs, you'll have the freedom to make the product "yours".
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
We're looking for someone who is passionate about writing clean, maintainable code and creating a beautiful product. You should have a keen appreciation for gorgeous design and should be well read about the latest UX patterns and CSS tricks.
You should come with at least 4 years of experience working on a web product. We're only looking for top-caliber candidates and will compensate generously.
We're also pretty big on agile methodologies. At a minimum, you should be familiar with TDD.
We love to experiment, but are also careful not to turn the product into a Frankenstein monster. So far, our production tech stack uses:
- RESTful JSON-based APIs
- MongoDB as our primary data store
- Elasticsearch for realtime analytics
- Node.js as a webhook worker and a data translation layer
- IronMQ as a message broker
- Symfony2 for our backend
- Enterprise Resource Planning
- Online Reservations
... and we're working on many more exciting things.
Our ideal candidate would have expertise in at least 2 of the above technologies.
