As a SES Engineer you will support our existing environments, which are several Linux-based clusters in North America and Europe. You will also work with leadership to promote and develop new initiatives such as our cloud computing environment. You will support customers with their cluster and application issues. You will have to create and troubleshoot scripts used for job submission and data post-processing.
The preferred candidate will be self-motivated and able plan their own schedule to prioritize tasks. They must be a team-oriented person, who is able to understand and follow instructions, be creative yet cautious, and detail oriented. The preferred candidate will have at least ten years’ experience with administration of Linux servers and Windows desktops and servers. This person will also possess at least five to seven years’ experience with Linux HPC clusters and cluster queuing systems. Knowledge of PLM system (i.e. Teamcenter/SAP-PLM) is a plus.
Major Responsibilities:
- Supporting our existing environments from the Operating System level up to the scheduler and application stack.
- Work with the business owners to schedule downtime for patching, as well as keeping the systems up to the required specifications.
- Be responsible for updating and troubleshooting their pre/post-processing applications on their desktops.
- Work with other operations team members on managing streaming clients as well.
Skills and Competencies
- CAE Application Interface Programming
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Bash, Python, Powershell, and Go
- Able to install, configure and troubleshoot application server environments based on Tomcat or JBoss
- Linux installation and patching (RedHat, CentOS, RockyLinux, etc)
- Knowledge of debug existing scripts and programs
- Ability to create new scripts based on customer requirements
Knowledge and Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or comparable experience
Work Experience
- 8 – 10 years of experience in IT/Engineering IT
