About your new role:
As Engineering Team Lead, you'll be a key part of Penta's future success by building on your strengths not just in hands-on coding, but also your experience in guiding and leading teams.
You'll have a dual role, focussing on both the technology - through design and implementation of well-engineered solutions; and the team - by guiding, mentoring and leading multi-disciplinary teams of engineers.
Our engineering squads typically have 4-6 engineers with a range of experience levels, together with QA and designers. As the team lead, you'll work closely with your product managers and designers in a sprint-based Agile environment, as well as collaborating with your peers in Berlin and Belgrade. We pride ourselves on rapidly developing and shipping features with constant customer feedback.
Our tech stack is based on Typescript, Node and React, as well as, React Native and PostgreSQL. We’ve got a microservices architecture, and our APIs communicate with a wide range of external systems.
On your new job you will:
- Have day-to-day responsibility for the line management of your team of 4 - 6 engineers
- Mentor and guide your team through regular 1-1 sessions
- Improve team productivity by cultivating a culture of good collaboration
- Balance between technical, analytical and product goals
- Help to build and enhance the future shape of the organisation as a key part of the recruitment process
- Celebrate successes and learn from failures as the whole team
- Be the key technical decision-maker, and provide technical guidance and mentoring to less-experienced colleagues
- Make and meet commitments through timely delivery
- Drive delivery through enhancing processes and removing roadblocks
- Ensure adherence to best practices, and maintain coding standards
- Work with the Principal Engineer and Engineering Manager to build and develop the effectiveness of the engineering organisation
- Be the key technical decision-maker, and provide technical guidance and mentoring to less-experienced colleagues
- Make and meet commitments through timely delivery
- Drive delivery through enhancing processes and removing roadblocks
- Ensure adherence to best practices, and maintain coding standards
- Work with the Principal Engineer and Engineering Manager to build and develop the effectiveness of the engineering organisation
What do you need to be successful?
- You already have 5+ years of engineering experience in fast-moving product-focussed environments
- You’ve worked in a technology leadership role, with hands-on experience of mentoring and coaching team members with a range of skill levels
- You’ve got strong knowledge of NodeJS, React, and the wider JavaScript ecosystem
- You’re proficient with Typescript and/or Java
- You’re familiar with test-driven development, continuous integration and deployment techniques
- You’ve got strong debugging & troubleshooting skills
- You’ve got a pragmatic approach and take a technology-agnostic approach to engineering
- You have the ability to communicate with stakeholders and peers with a wide range of levels of technical understanding, across engineering and product organisations
- You’re adaptable and flexible to new technologies and way of working
