Work Environment

This role will start fully remote but will transition to in-office work in Belgrade as we establish our office. Eventually, we'll offer hybrid flexibility (1-2 days remote per week). We value in-person collaboration for building a tight-knit, high-performing team. You'll work closely with teammates and customers primarily in the US and Europe, so expect regular collaboration across time zones.

Role Overview

You'll take our prototype backend systems and transform them into a battle-tested manufacturing platform that Fortune 500 companies depend on daily. This means architecting scalable services, writing clean Go code that lasts, and making critical technical decisions about APIs, databases, and system integrations that will shape our product for years to come. As we grow to 20+ engineers, you'll naturally step into leadership, mentoring new hires and setting the technical standard for backend engineering.

What you'll build: The robust backend powering a collaborative manufacturing platform that handles product data from initial design through production to final quality control. You'll design and implement Go services using gRPC/REST APIs, optimize SQL databases for complex queries, build caching strategies with Redis, and integrate with our proprietary 3D geometry engine. This isn't just another CRUD backend. You're building the infrastructure for the future of digital manufacturing.

Responsibilities

Your day-to-day responsibilities:

• Shape product architecture: Drive technical decisions and system design discussions that define our platform
• Build and ship features: Take ownership of backend features from concept to production
• Evolve the codebase: Refactor, optimize, and improve existing systems for scale and maintainability
• Ensure quality: Write comprehensive tests and maintain high code standards
• Elevate the team: Participate in code reviews and help establish engineering best practices
• Drive visibility: Communicate progress and technical decisions to stakeholders
• Collaborate across functions: Work closely with product and design to deliver exceptional user experiences
• Work globally: Partner with team members and customers across US and European time zones

Requirements

• 3+ years professional software development experience
• Fluent English (spoken and written)
• Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, design patterns
• Backend: Go (preferred, or other backend language/framework) with clean architecture patterns
• APIs: REST and/or gRPC design and implementation
• Database: SQL modeling, migrations, and query optimization
• DevOps basics: Git, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, unit testing
• Passion for learning and building systems from scratch

Nice-to-Have: Bonus points if you have experience with any of these technologies we use daily:

• International or distributed team collaboration
• Redis caching strategies
• Real‑time product features: WebSocket, Server‑Sent Events, basic conflict‑resolution strategies
• Cloud platforms: AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Enterprise integrations: CRM, PLM, ERP APIs
