We have partnered with Bizerba, a global leader in weighing, slicing, and labeling technologies, in the search for a Head of Technical Department for their new production facility in Valjevo.
With over 150 years of tradition and innovation, Bizerba is known worldwide for providing high-quality solutions to clients across the food industry, retail, and logistics sectors. The company is now expanding its footprint in Serbia with a new manufacturing plant, marking a significant strategic investment in the region.
This role will be key in building and leading the technical team from the ground up, ensuring the smooth launch and long-term success of technical operations in Valjevo. Task & Responsibilities:
- Strategic and operational management of the technical department (local special machinery, maintenance, and facility management) as well as the IT infrastructure.
- Ensuring smooth operation of IT systems, networks, and technical infrastructure (machines in production & warehouse).
- Evaluating and implementing new technologies to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Leading technology projects, including digitization, automation, and system integration.
- Monitoring and ensuring compliance with IT security measures.
- Collaborating with internal departments and external service providers to continuously improve technical processes.
- Maintenance and upkeep of the entire building facilities, outdoor areas, and vehicle fleet.
- Development of optimization concepts regarding automation and zero-defect strategy (testing equipment).
- Leading, developing, and motivating the team in the areas of facility management, maintenance, special machinery, and IT.
Requirements:
- Completed studies in engineering, business informatics, automation, or a comparable qualification.
- Several years of professional experience in a manufacturing company.
- Experience in leading and developing teams.
- Analytical, strategic, and solution-oriented thinking.
- High communication and assertiveness skills, with cross-functional and interdepartmental collaboration.
- Experience in project management and in managing automation and technology projects.
- Open mindset, willingness to change, and interest in digital and automated solutions.
- Very good English language skills, both written and spoken.
- German language skills are an advantage
