Position Summary
Find bugs, defects, and regressions. Design, implement, execute, and debug test cases and/or automated test scripts. Validate and document completion of testing and development. Verify fixes and help ensure successful releases by planning and executing test activities for exploratory and regression testing. Demonstrate and apply product, domain, or technical expertise to maximize the quality of testing for a development team. Maintain a positive and professional attitude. Identify opportunities for improving processes, training and tools and make appropriate recommendations to management.
Essential Tasks
- Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
- Develop testing plans and testing scenarios in accordance with the functional requirements and detail technical specifications provided by the design team to ensure code generated by the development team conforms to the specified requirements.
- Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities within a cross-functional development team.
- Design, develop and execute test cases and/or automation scripts using provided tools
- Identify, record, document, and track bugs
- Perform regular regression, exploratory and system testing as required
- Monitor and maintain bug backlogs for accuracy
Preferred Skills and Experience
- 6+ years professional experience
- Must have strong diagnostic skills to properly test software and measure the quality of the product.
- Must have a technical background to be able to create proper testing scenarios from the functional requirements and detail specifications.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and writing SQL queries.
- Experience with QA testing on ERP type applications/systems.
- A thorough understanding administrative software for higher education and experience with automated testing tools are a plus.
- Proficiency with at least one programming or scripting language a plus.
The pay range for this position is $65,000 to $85,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, geographic location, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual bonus in addition to a full range of benefits.
