Security DevOps/Platform Engineer

We are seeking an exceptionally talented Secure DevOps/Platform Engineer to join our rapidly growing consulting team. We are looking for a senior-level DevOps / Platform engineer who can own our cloud infrastructure, deployments, and CI/CD pipelines with a strong security mindset. This person will ensure that everything we deploy is reliable, automated, secure, and follows best practices appropriate for a cybersecurity product.

They will work closely with our engineering team and with a part-time Security Architect / cryptography PhD, who provides high-level threat modeling and privacy guidance. This role operationalizes those recommendations and makes our infrastructure safe and robust.

To be considered for this position, you must have the following qualifications: 

• Strong DevOps / Platform background (Azure preferred, AWS acceptable if adaptable).
• Experience with Infra-as-Code (Terraform/Bicep).
• Hands-on CI/CD pipeline ownership.
• Good understanding of secure cloud operations (least privilege, secret management, hardened pipelines).
• Ability to own deployments end to end in a startup environment.
• Senior-level autonomy and ability to build systems from scratch.

Ideal candidates will also have: 

• Exposure to cybersecurity, privacy, or sensitive-data handling.
• Experience with monitoring/observability setup.
• Experience with data pipeline / workflow orchestration.
• Background in designing developer tooling or internal platforms.

Responsibilities: 

• Own and evolve CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar).
• Build and maintain Azure-based cloud infrastructure using IaC (Terraform or Bicep).
• Manage deployment processes, staging/production environments, and release readiness.
• Ensure secure operation of infrastructure: identity, access control, secrets, networking, logging.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, diagnostics, and operational observability.
• Design and implement secure data infrastructure and the data pipelines that support our ML and analysis workflows
• Support data pipelines and backend infrastructure pieces as needed.
• Collaborate with the security consultant to apply secure design principles (but this is not a formal security architect role).
• Improve developer workflows, internal tooling, and reliability.
