We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator for Microsoft SQL Server estate to provide support for all the application components of the SQL DBs ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and scalability.
What you will do:
- Take ownership for the incidents and problems related to application DB.
- Identify and analyze rapidly growing tables causing DB performance issues and address them by initiating defect fixes for purging configuration, revising the purging policy accordingly.
- Review application DB components monitoring parameters and thresholds.
- Address incidents raised through monitoring alerts where they relate specifically to application database components, resolving incidents and configuring SQL objects to prevent future alerts.
- Collect and analyze SQL agent and SQL server error logs for application DB incidents and problems.
- Review current logging mechanisms and make modifications if necessary.
- Configuration of SQL objects such as indexes.
- Review user access and role-based control over the DB.
- Support disaster recovery execution.
- Document standard operating procedures for application DB maintenance activities in KB.
What we expect from you:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in administration of MS SQL DBs.
- Proven experience in diagnosing and resolving DB performance issues, including query optimization, index management (creation, rebuilds, fragmentation analysis), and server configuration tuning.
- Skilled in supporting monitoring solutions for SQL Server, responding to alerts, and performing root cause analysis to prevent recurrence of incidents.
- Practical experience in supporting DR execution, with knowledge of SQL Server replication.
- Proficient in creating and managing SQL Server Agent jobs and automated scripts for routine tasks (backups, integrity checks, index/statistics updates).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- [optionally] Relevant certifications such as Microsoft MCSA: SQL Database Administrator or similar are preferred.
