Senior Microsoft Azure Cloud Engineer - DevOps Specialist

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Microsoft Azure specialist to support the migration of on-prem infrastructure to Azure cloud (PaaS/SaaS priority, IaaS lift-and-shift), as well as long-term management of the environment. Focus on modernizing Active Directory/Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, and ongoing operations with minimal downtime. Work in a small, agile team with an international client (Switzerland/Germany/Serbia locations).

Experience Level: Senior (3+ years of relevant Azure experience)

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implementation of Azure architecture (Frankfurt region priority): VNet peering, site-to-site VPN/ExpressRoute, Application Gateway.
• Identity migration: Full transition to Entra ID from on-prem AD (decommissioning Entra Connect sync), MFA (Entra ID), certificate-based authentication.
• Service migration: Exchange 2016 → Exchange Online + Defender/EOP, file/print servers → SharePoint/OneDrive + Universal Print, monitoring → Azure Monitor/Sentinel.
• Lift-and-shift of critical VMs (ERP/CRM, telephony) to Azure VMs, with support for legacy applications.
• Replacement of Citrix with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD): session hosts, low-latency connections, Entra ID integration.
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep), CI/CD (Azure DevOps), backup (Azure Backup), cost management.
• Ongoing support: troubleshooting hybrid connections, security (RBAC, Conditional Access, Intune), knowledge transfer, on-demand support.

Requirements

• Experience Level: Senior (3+ years of relevant Azure experience).
• Deep knowledge of Microsoft Azure (AZ-104 or equivalent experience).
• Experience with hybrid identity: Active Directory, Entra ID sync/migration, MFA.
• Microsoft 365/Exchange Online administration (migration, SPF/DKIM/DMARC).
• Azure networking (VPN, peering, gateways), VMs, storage, security.
• Advantage: Azure Virtual Desktop, Sentinel/Monitor, Intune, Terraform/Bicep, PowerShell.
• Experience with migrations (minimal downtime, pilot phases, testing).
• Good command of English (German is a plus).
• Willingness for on-demand support (flexible working hours, occasional site visits).
