The role you will play:

  • Act as a bridge between the art and programming teams to ensure seamless integration of visual assets in Unity.
  • Optimize assets and workflows to ensure performance and visual quality across various mobile devices.
  • Create and maintain shaders, visual effects, UI and tools that help artists work more efficiently.
  • Help define and enforce technical standards and best practices for asset creation and implementation.
  • Collaborate closely with artists and programmers to identify and resolve art-related technical issues throughout development.

Required qualifications:

  • A strong portfolio showcasing technical art contributions in shipped games or projects.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical art role within game development.
  • Proven ability to work with both 2D and 3D assets in Unity.

Required skills:

  • Strong Unity knowledge, especially in asset integration, Unity UI (uGUI), shader creation, VFX, and performance profiling.
  • Solid experience with visual effects (particles, shaders, lighting) in Unity.
  • Strong visual eye and attention to artistic detail.
  • Familiarity with common 3D art tools such as Blender and Photoshop, and how their output is used in games.
  • Understanding of mobile performance constraints and asset optimization techniques.
  • Good understanding of rendering pipelines, lighting, and material systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to proactively troubleshoot asset-related issues.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to accept criticism and implement feedback effectively.

Bonus points:

  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (C#, Python, or similar) to build tools and automate workflows.
  • Experience developing custom tools or editor extensions in Unity to streamline workflows.
  • Familiarity with build pipelines, asset bundles, and version control systems.
  • Previous experience working on strategy or idle mobile games.
  • Self-motivation, strong communication skills, and a great team player attitude.
  • Passion for video games and a broad understanding of video game culture.
