Wintel System Engineer - Patching

The Wintel System Engineer – Patching will work in the Windows Platform Services team, that is part of the Regional Centre of Excellence (CoE) Infrastructure Engineering Department responsible for IT infrastructure engineering and operations for Ahold Delhaize. The team is consisting of team members residing in the different EU countries where Ahold Delhaize operates. The primary role of the Wintel System Engineer – Patching is to make sure that 1300+ Windows Based servers are and stay 24/7 available and performant for running the different Ahold Delhaize Europe applications. Also, to make sure the team’s standard and processes are applied to all windows servers in the EU organization.
Job description:
1. IT Operations
- System delivery, patching and decommissioning for the different EU demand projects
- Be responsible for day-to-day administration of regional systems, taking care of their stability and performance
- Perform L3 support
- Participate in the 24/7 EU on-call activity of the windows platform team
- Ensure that questions/problems detected by the different OPCO’s are addressed
- Follow-up and resolving of incidents of the Windows Platform incident-queue within the defined SLA’s
2. Projects
- Follow-up of the server patch process for the Windows servers.
- System Delivery for new projects
3. Standards & Compliance
- Day to day follow-up of the activities that were assigned to you for the different team-projects
- Ensures compliance of IT policies and baselines
- Act according to ITIL best practices (i.e. change- and incident management)
- Represent the team, guard standards & processes, manage & maintain baselines, i.e. by working closely with the other departments and other OPCO’s in the other countries
Requirements:
- Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or equivalent by experience
- 3 years of experience in administration of windows-based Servers and Client OS
- 2 years of experience in Active Directory configuration/management
- 1 year of experience in VMWare/ESX management/configuration/setup
- 1 year of experience in Citrix Administration
- Deep technical knowledge of the Windows platforms and technologies.
- Excellent conceptual knowledge of the following technologies : proxy servers, reverse proxy servers, firewall, load balancers, routers, switches, SAN, NAS, Scripting tools, TCP/IP, VLAN
- Have deep technical knowledge in 3 of following technologies:
- Windows Server OS (2008 R2/2012 R2/2016)
- Windows clustering
- Windows Client OS (7/8/10)
- Server virtualization: VMWare 6+
- Active Directory & related services: (DNS, GPO, etc)
- Management platforms: (Symantec Management Platform 7.5+, SCCM or similar)
- System Center 2012, 2016
- Monitoring services: SCOM
- Symantec Altiris
- Hardware: HP c-Class Blades infrastructure
- Collaboration: Exchange / MS Lync 2010+
- Application virtualization: Citrix Xenapp & Xendesktop V7.x
- Mobility: AirWatch, Xenmobile, iOS, Android or similar
- Encryption: Symantec Endpoint Encryption & Protection, Microsoft Bitlocker or similar
