WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
If you’re passionate about video streaming and web technologies, Zattoo’s Playback Team needs you. We are looking for an iOS / tvOS Playback Engineer with proven experience in video streaming to help us build our next generation video playback for apple devices. YOUR FUTURE, ON DEMAND.
THE PRODUCT CREATION TEAM
This team builds the technology that ensures a high-quality video streaming experience for all of our customers independently of the device they use.
We are a team of diverse playback engineers specialized in video playback technologies with senior experience in the streaming business and we work closely with the video backend team to deliver content in the best way possible.
As the player is so crucial to our product we also support the various platform teams with knowledge and guidance. Zattoo’s current strategy is to build on existing player frameworks such as Exoplayer and AVPlayer and customize them to our needs, while constantly monitoring market developments and adjusting our strategy accordingly.
This is how the team covers playback on big screen platforms like STBs (AndroidTV-based, AppleTV, custom Unix-based), SmartTVs (various vendors), all known mobile platforms, Web environments, game consoles like Xbox as well as Cast/Airplay technologies.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Develop our video playback and telemetry SDKs for iOS & tvOS
- Apply excellent debugging skills to root cause customer issues, and leverage automation to prevent the issue from happening again
- Write clean and testable code
- Collaborate with Video Backend Engineers and other Playback and Frontend Engineers
- Become a valued member of Zattoo’s Engineering team and improve our core quality of experience
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- 4+ years experience in iOS/tvOS application development
- Experience with video streaming technologies (HLS, DASH) and DRM systems (FairPlay, Playready, Widevine)
- Experience with AVFoundation/AVPlayer on iOS/tvOS
- Familiarity with the advertising ecosystem (ad and video servers; VAST, VMAP)
Bonus:
- Experience with XCTest or other automation testing frameworks
- Experience with tracking playback events, errors, behaviour, user experience and A/B testing
- Android(Kotlin) or Web(JS) knowledge.
