What is this role about?

You will be on a mission to develop and maintain functional and stable web applications to meet our company’s needs. You will work closely with our backend developers to ensure exceptional user experience by being responsible for implementing visual and interactive elements that users engage with through their browser when using our web application.

In this role you will :

• Participate in the entire application lifecycle, focusing on coding and debugging
• Write clean code to develop functional web applications
• Troubleshoot and debug applications
• Perform tests to optimise performance
• Manage cutting-edge technologies to improve legacy applications
• Collaborate with FrontEnd developers to integrate user-facing elements with server side logic
• Gather and address technical and design requirements
• Provide training and support to internal teams
• Build reusable code and libraries for future use
• Liaise with developers, designers and system administrators to identify new features
• Follow emerging technologies

Job requirements

We are looking for someone who has:

• At least 2 years of product experience as a backend developer with NodeJS or 4 years of experience in Java, C# or similar languages and desire to learn NodeJS
• In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development and deployment)
• Deep understanding of REST API design and WebSockets
• Good understanding of Docker, Kubernetes
• Good command of Linux environment
• Teamwork skills with a problem-solving attitude
• Is willing to learn and share knowledge
• Enjoys working in a predominantly remote-work environment

Ideal, but not a must:

• Experience in working with a microservice type environment as opposed to monolithic enterprise software - TypeScript exposure would be beneficial
• Experience working with NestJS framework.
• Exposure to SQL, NoSQL, RabbitMQ, Redis and Designing microservice based software architecture
• Front-end programming languages such as HTML/CSS
• Familiar with cloud services such as AWS/GCP/DO
• Previous experience in a startup work environment
• Previous experience in fintech industry

Bonus skills:

• Front-end programming languages such as HTML/CSS
• Experience with Javascript frameworks, preferably Vue.js or React
