Summary of key responsibilities/deliverables
Hyperoptic database environment consists of MySQL and PostgreSQL relational database systems hosted in AWS, Google Cloud as well as on local premises. The Database Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the performance, security, integrity, recovery, and scalability of the database environments.
What will you be doing?
- Create and deploy new versions of the database management system (DBMS)
- Maintenance of databases in both development and live service environments.
- Managing database security/integrity and backup procedures (access permissions/privileges, Data Protection Act)
- Maintain data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act
- Monitor database performance and manage parameters to provide fast responses to front-end users
- Troubleshooting SQL
- Job automation
What are we looking for?
- University degree level in fields such as information technology or computer science
- 2+ years of experience in database administration
- Proven experience in relational database concepts (transaction isolation, normalization)
- Understanding Cloud Infrastructure (GCP, AWS, Azure)
