At Sporting Rock, we don’t just build features. We build systems that organize and power the world of sports.
We’re an ambitious sports-tech startup based in Hamburg, with a strong engineering team in Serbia. Name of our company in Serbia is FFTAE (Foundation for technology and engineering). Our goal is simple to say and hard to do: create the best sports software out there — software that is scalable, elegant, and deeply connected to real-world sports operations.
To do that, we’re not looking for “just another developer.” We’re looking for ambitious, passionate, full-stack thinkers.
We are looking for people who want to understand the whole product — not just the frontend or the backend. People who care about business logic, data flow, users, performance, and impact. People who ask why, not just how. People who are ready to think outside the box, to fully commit, take responsibility and become part of something big.
This role is for you if:
- You’ve been interested in programming long before it became “just a job”
- You have a strong technical background - at least a Bachelor's degree
- You’ve built things outside of assigned tasks — side projects, experiments, tools, or ideas
- You like understanding how systems work end to end
- You want to participate in shaping a product, not just implementing tickets
- You’re curious, open-minded, and constantly pushing yourself to grow
We don’t care about perfectly formatted CVs.
We do care about how you think, what you’ve built, and what excites you.
What You’ll Actually Do?
- Build backend services in Go and frontend features in React + TypeScript
- Work on real product and business logic — not toy problems
- Design and evolve APIs, services, and system architecture
- Be involved in deployment, monitoring, and performance in production
- Collaborate closely with senior engineers on clean, scalable solutions
- Take part in discussions, brainstorming, and product decisions
- Improve the platform based on real user feedback and real data
This is a true full-stack role — you’ll understand how everything fits together.
What We’re Looking For?
- Strong curiosity and intrinsic motivation
- 2–5 years of experience in software development
- Experience or strong interest in React, TypeScript, and modern frontend development
- Backend experience in Go (or strong foundations in Rust, Kotlin, or similar languages)
- Solid understanding of computer science fundamentals
- Comfort with Git, APIs, databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
- Interest in how software runs in the real world (CI/CD, DevOps, infrastructure)
Why Sporting Rock?
- Real ownership & impact – Your work reaches real users
- Mentorship & growth – Learn from experienced engineers who care
- Full-stack exposure – Understand the entire system, not just one layer
- Remote & flexible – Results matter more than rigid rules
- International team – English-speaking, agile, and open-minded
- More than fair working conditions: fair compensation, additional vacation days and other benefits depending of the location
- Shared passion – Sports, technology, and building great software
In addition to your CV, we would like a short and personalized motivation letter. It needs to contain short introduction: Who are you, what motivates you and why would we choose you? But the most important part is to show us something you’ve built — from work, studies, or your free time. Tell us why you built it, what problem it solves, and what you’d improve if you had more time. We want to see your GitHub profile, personal website, side project, open-source contribution, prototype, experiment — anything that shows how you think and create.
If you think differently, build things for fun, and want to be part of a big vision —
we want to hear from you.
We will only contact shortlisted candidates.
Let’s build something exceptional together!

FFTEA is a software development company built around talented, ambitious, and passionate engineers. We create high-quality software solutions primarily for Sporting Rock, as well as for other innovative sports-focused startups whose mission is to make the world of sports better through technology.
The name FFTEA is an acronym for Foundation for Technology and Engineering, reflecting our commitment to strong technical foundations and thoughtful engineering.
Our goal is to build a team of outstanding engineers who grow with us and actively shape world-class sports applications—products that leave a lasting impact on the sports industry.
We work in an agile environment, using modern tools, best practices, and up-to-date technologies. Our development team operates independently and flexibly, with a strong remote-friendly culture. Every team member has real influence on the final product, paired with a high level of responsibility, dedication, and professionalism.
With candidates, our aim to be efficient and respectful of candidates’ time, while still allowing enough space for meaningful conversations and a proper introduction on both sides.
1. Introductory Interview (HR)
The first step is an informal introductory conversation with our HR manager. The goal is to get to know you better—your motivation, ambitions, and professional background. It’s also an opportunity for us to introduce FFTEA, Sporting Rock, our culture, and the projects you’d be working on.
2. Technical Interview
In the second round, we dive deeper into your technical experience, discussing technologies, methodologies, and your preferred ways of working.
3. Technical Task (Live Coding)
The final step is a live coding session (1–2 hours), designed to assess practical problem-solving skills and technical knowledge.
Depending on the role and for efficiency, we may adjust the order, combine steps, or merge interviews when appropriate.
