Lead QA Automation Engineer (Java) Server side

Role Overview

The Senior Server QA Automation Developer will be responsible for expanding the in-house backend test framework (known by the Pelmesh) that also leverages the Orion main server backend code base. The role involves development end expansion of the existing core components of the framework, including the  specific network transports, and ensuring transactional integrity of calls.  Development of Knowledge of Kotlin is imperative as Pelmesh is developed in this language. The role also requires a working knowledge of integration with the CI/CD systems (Jenkins is used by Orion Media) and deploying Docker Swarm microservices container orchestration environments for functional testing.

Responsibilities

• Assess, learn and continue extended development of the backend testing automation framework developed in house in Kotlin.
• Import and use the main code base of the Orion Media backend componentry developed in Java (Spring Boot)
• Develop and maintain features automation test plans and perform risk analysis of potential errors.
• Refactor and update existing automated tests developed for Pelmesh framework.
• Set up and update load and break testing environments and test utilities for automatic execution.
• Ensure the functional testing capabilities of Pelmesh are robust and up-to-date.
• Integrate Pelmesh into CI/CD systems and deploy Docker Swarm microservices for testing.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong understanding of hardware and software testing processes and product life cycle.
• Experience in the following areas:
• Kotlin (imperative for Pelmesh development)
• Java SE (development or automation testing)
• Multithreading
• Network protocols (TCP, UDP, HTTP)
• Test frameworks (e.g., JMeter, JUnit, TestNG)
• Linux systems administration
• Atlassian tools (Confluence, Jira)
• Familiarity with CI/CD integration and Docker Swarm microservices container orchestration.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Knowledge of Java EE (Spring Framework).
• Experience with performance or load testing.
• Familiarity with databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, Apache Cassandra).

Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
