About the Role

As Senior IT Business Consultant – Product Lifecycle Modeling & Costing, you will design and structure data‑driven representations of the product lifecycle, with a strong focus on cost transparency, relationships, and simulation capabilities.

You operate at the intersection of IT, data architecture, and business logic, defining how products, processes, and costs are modeled, connected, and calculated across systems.

A key part of your role is leading the implementation of a Product Lifecycle Costing solution (e.g. TCALC or comparable tools), ensuring that business logic is translated into scalable, robust, and transparent system and data models.

 

Your Responsibilities

Product Lifecycle Modeling & Data Design

  • Design and structure data models across the product lifecycle, including:
    • product structures (BOMs, variants, versions)
    • process flows and dependencies
    • cost drivers and relationships
  • Model complex dependencies between engineering, costing, and business processes
  • Ensure lifecycle data is consistent, reusable, and system-integrated (SAP, CRM, SRM, PPM)
 

Product Lifecycle Costing & Analytical Modeling

  • Structure and understand Product Lifecycle Costing logic, including:
    • cost drivers, dependencies, and scenarios
    • investment, volume, and lifecycle effects
  • Translate business and commercial logic into:
    • data models
    • calculation structures
    • system behavior
  • Ensure costing logic is transparent, traceable, and scalable
 

Data Architecture & Modern Data Concepts

  • Apply modern data modeling approaches, such as:
    • graph-based structures (nodes, relationships, dependencies)
    • object-oriented lifecycle models
  • Define how lifecycle data is:
    • stored
    • versioned
    • connected across systems
  • Work in close collaboration with Data Engineering to:
    • translate models into scalable architectures
    • ensure consistency between business logic and technical implementation
    • guarantee performance and maintainability
  • Act as a bridge between business and data engineering, ensuring correct representation of lifecycle and costing logic
 

Business–IT Translation

  • Translate business needs into:
    • structured data models
    • functional specifications
    • system requirements
  • Work closely with:
    • Engineering
    • Controlling
    • Purchasing
    • Sales
    • IT & Data Engineering
 

Project Ownership – Product Lifecycle Costing

  • Lead the implementation of a Product Lifecycle Costing solution (e.g. TCALC)
  • Drive:
    • requirements clarification
    • model and data design
    • implementation alignment
    • rollout and stabilization
  • Ensure alignment between system output and real business logic
 

Testing & Business Validation

  • Define and execute business-driven test scenarios
  • Validate:
    • product structures
    • cost dependencies
    • lifecycle behavior
  • Support user adoption and business acceptance
 

Your Profile

Must‑have

  • Strong background in IT, data modeling, or system design
  • Strong analytical and mathematical thinking
  • Ability to model complex relationships and dependencies
  • Experience translating business problems into data and system structures
  • Experience working in IT projects or system implementations
 

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Costing or controlling
  • Experience with complex product structures (e.g. BOMs, variants)
  • Familiarity with modern data modeling approaches (graph, object models)
  • Experience with enterprise systems (SAP, PLM, costing tools)
  • Experience in manufacturing / industrial environments
