Software Developer

Role Overview

We are looking for a backend developer who works hands on. You will build and maintain cloud native services that are already in production. You will support REST APIs, improve performance, and keep systems stable under real load. Most of your time will be spent writing code, fixing issues, and improving existing services.

You will work inside a production system that serves real users. The work is iterative and focused on steady improvements. You will work closely with frontend engineers and product stakeholders, mainly based in the US.

What You Will Do

• You will design and implement REST APIs using AWS Lambda and Amazon API Gateway. You will write backend code using Node.js and TypeScript. You will work with relational databases, design schemas, and write optimized SQL queries that support both product features and analytics.
• You will integrate backend services with PostgreSQL running on Aurora. You will monitor API latency, execution time, and runtime errors using CloudWatch and X Ray. You will investigate production issues and fix them based on real data.
• You will build and maintain automated deployment workflows using Bitbucket Pipelines. This includes managing pipeline configuration, build environments, and deployments across development, UAT, and production.
• Most days are about writing backend code, fixing real production issues, and shipping incremental improvements to live systems.

Core Responsibilities

• You will develop and maintain production backend services. You will make sure APIs are secure, reliable, and easy to maintain. You will write clean and readable code that performs well under load. You will communicate progress, blockers, and technical concerns clearly.
• You will own backend features from implementation through deployment and post release fixes.

Required Experience

• You possess extensive hands-on experience with AWS Lambda and API Gateway, as well as building event-driven systems using services like SQS or SNS. 
• You are comfortable working with PostgreSQL and advanced SQL. This includes window functions and performance tuning.
• You have solid experience with Node.js and TypeScript. You use CloudWatch and X Ray to trace requests across distributed systems. You are comfortable working in an existing production codebase. You have experience configuring Bitbucket Pipelines and managing CI workflows.
• You can work independently and communicate clearly with a remote team.

Background

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is a plus. Equivalent professional experience matters just as much. What counts most is a proven track record of shipping production grade software.
• You have at least three years of experience working with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, RDS using PostgreSQL, and IAM. You also have at least three years of experience working with JavaScript and Node.js.

APIs are stable and perform well in production. Issues are diagnosed and fixed quickly. The codebase stays clean and understandable over time. Deployments are predictable and safe. You become a reliable contributor who can own backend features end to end.
