OVERVIEW
The Software Development Engineer position will report to the Manager of Engineering and is primarily responsible for the support, refactoring, enhancement, and development of the various subsystems of the OvrC cloud. From writing complex multi-subsystem APIs for public consumption, to making architectural changes to applications– this role must be comfortable facing a variety of tasks. The Software Development Engineer must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment that is goal oriented and emphasizes accountability for delivering results.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop server applications and APIs for the OvrC cloud
- Provide guidance into emerging technology options as new tools are explored
- Research technologies for potential use in OvrC servers and develop proof-of-concept applications
- Develop coding standards and practices
- Assist and help troubleshoot issues in development and production
- Collaborate with OvrC team members to define application design requirements
- Participate in peer reviews of developed software and unit tests
- Participate in the production and non-production deployment process
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
- 2+ years’ experience developing software platforms and/or applications
- Experience with distributed, n-tier software systems
- Experience with Golang or other strongly typed C-based language such as C# or Java
- Experience working with NoSQL, document-oriented databases such as MongoDB
- Knowledge of source code management systems such as Git, TFS, or SVN
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree
- Experience working with Linux / Unix operating systems
- Experience with unit testing and integration testing
- Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MSSQL
- Experience in SLDC and agile software development
- Experience with Agile tools JIRA/LeanKit or another Kanban
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and best practices
- Knowledge of containerization tools and best practices
