The Position:
Cognativ is looking for a QA Automation Engineer with proven knowledge of manual testing and automation testing for applications built in an older Microsoft tech stack.
As a QA automation engineer, we expect you to take full responsibility for the frontend and backend testing of the platform and developing testing automation.
Our US and New Zealand based client has a lot of legacy Microsoft technology along with some new JS frameworks.
Responsibilities:
- Development and maintenance of test automation framework using Selenium and Cucumber.
- Load simulation testing using Jmeter.
- Ability to educate/coach existing QA team and define long term QA strategy.
- Automation focus:
- Primarily quantitative output from calculation/analysis engine.
- Secondarily UI.
- Update/create project documentation where needed including JIRA tickets.
- Take part in team meetings and proactively communicate with the distributed team on a regular basis.
- Take the lead on defining QA strategy and defining best practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Comfortable operating in a relatively small team without much structure.
- Eager to take initiative and partner with clients on planning and making technical & design decisions.
- Time flexibility to work with client staff in both the US (multiple time zones) and New Zealand.
- Able to work in and understand a software system using many older technologies and patterns.
- Must be willing to attend twice weekly USA / NZ team meetings held at 15:00 US Central Time (22:00 CEST).
- 5 to 7+ years of QA automation experience
- Well-versed in QA best practices
- Experienced in testing with various Microsoft software technologies.
- Experienced in Selenium, Cucumber.
- Experience in performance testing with JMeter.
