Test Engineer - Data Platform

We are seeking a passionate, curious, and self-motivated Test Engineer to join our growing Data Platform Team. You will play a key role in shaping how we ensure quality across a modern, cloud-native data ecosystem - balancing strategy, hands-on validation, and innovation.

This role demands a proactive approach to 'shifting quality to the left,' meaning you will work to identify and mitigate risks early in the development process. Your day-to-day will involve a mix of manual testing and developing automated test suites, always with the goal of enhancing product quality from ideation throughout the delivery to production. Your work will directly improve trust in our data, accelerate delivery, and enhance the experience of business users.

What You’ll Do:

• Work in a cross-functional, Agile team, embedding quality practices from design through production
• Design and execute functional, non-functional, and data quality tests across data pipelines, Redshift queries, and BI systems (e.g., QuickSight dashboards), ensuring reliability from ingestion through visualization
• Validate data accuracy, lineage, and consistency between source and analytical layers, performing end-to-end system validation of ingestion, transformation (ETL/ELT), and reporting flows
• Comfortably combine exploratory/manual testing with automation, ensuring both the correctness and the "feel” of our dashboards and reports
• Develop and evolve automated testing frameworks (including AI-driven test generation and anomaly detection) for all relevant quality gates
• Integrate automated tests into our CI/CD pipelines, ensuring fast and reliable feedback loops
• Partner with engineers and product managers to define acceptance criteria, coverage goals, and risk-based testing strategies
• Participate in release readiness reviews and ensure timely, high-quality delivery
• Act as a quality advocate: review test results, identify root causes, and drive improvements in reliability and observability
• Maintain clear testing documentation (test plans, test cases, reports) and contribute to knowledge sharing across teams
• Continuously evaluate modern QA tools, AI frameworks, and cloud services to advance our testing practices

What You’ll Need:

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 3+ years in QA/Test Engineering
• Strong SQL and Python skills for validating large datasets and building robust queries
• Hands-on exposure to CI/CD pipelines and Agile delivery
• Knowledge of at least one programming language (Python preferred for test automation)
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT concepts and database systems
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a proactive, problem-solving mindset

Nice-to-haves:

• Experience testing dashboards and analytical tools (QuickSight, Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or similar)
• Experience with AWS services (Redshift, S3, RDS, Glue, Step Functions, etc.)
• Exposure to AI-powered test frameworks (e.g., for regression testing, anomaly detection, or synthetic data generation)
• Familiarity with data observability platforms and monitoring practices.
• Knowledge of web service and API testing
• Proficiency with Git and issue tracking tools (Jira, TFS, etc.)
• Curiosity to learn, share, and apply emerging QA practices in the context of data and AI
