Product Data Expert – Protect Product Division

Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Expert to join our Product Department, where you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful integration of data into our product development processes. This role requires someone who can bridge the gap between business units and technical teams, collecting and understanding data requirements, preparing necessary documentation, and supporting the data science team throughout the data evaluation process. You will also be responsible for defining and implementing data governance standards to ensure data integrity and compliance across all product initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborating with business units: Partner with cross-functional business teams (Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, etc.) to understand product data needs, and gather requirements for data acquisition. Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and the technical teams.
• Prepare Data Acquisition Documentation: Develop and maintain clear, detailed documentation for the data acquisition process. This includes data requirements specifications, data flows, and integration details to ensure seamless data collection and usage.
• Support Data Science Teams: Assist data science teams in evaluating data, identifying the best sources for required datasets, and ensuring that data is clean, relevant, and aligned with project goals. Follow the progress of ongoing data projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to requirements.
• Project Management for Data Initiatives: Oversee and manage data-related projects, ensuring that milestones, deadlines, and objectives are met. Coordinate between business teams, data engineers, and data scientists to maintain a smooth workflow.
• Define and Implement Data Governance: Define data governance standards and policies that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Ensure proper documentation of data management practices, including data quality, access controls, and compliance standards. Implement these standards within the product development process to ensure data integrity and security.
• Ensure Compliance: Work closely with legal and compliance teams to ensure that all data collection, processing, and usage comply with relevant regulations (such as GDPR, CCPA) and internal policies.
• Monitor Data Quality and Availability: Continuously monitor the quality, accuracy, and availability of the data being used in product development. Proactively identify any issues and work with relevant teams to resolve them.
• Reporting and Analytics: Assist in generating regular reports and analytics to track data usage and governance metrics. Provide insights to leadership on the status of data initiatives and improvements.
• Facilitate Data Training and Best Practices: Educate teams on data best practices, governance standards, and the importance of data quality in the product development lifecycle.

Essential Requirements

• 5+ years of experience working with data management, data governance, or data operations, preferably in a product or tech-focused organization.
• Strong knowledge of ETL, databases (SQL/NoSQL), AWS services (S3, Redshift, Glue), and data flows. Ability to understand and contribute to data architecture decisions, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
• Strong experience in collaborating with business units to gather data requirements and translating these into technical specifications.
• Proficiency in preparing data documentation for acquisition, transformation, and integration, ensuring clarity and accuracy for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience supporting data science teams with data evaluation, sourcing, and project management, ensuring smooth execution of data-related tasks.
• Solid understanding of data governance principles, including data quality, metadata management, and data security practices.
• Familiarity with data compliance regulations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) and their impact on data management.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple data-related initiatives simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business goals.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Hands-on experience with data management tools and platforms (e.g., databases, data warehouses, BI tools).
• Problem-solving and critical thinking skills to navigate complex data challenges and ensure data solutions meet business needs.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and data pipelines.
• Familiarity with data quality management tools and data privacy compliance frameworks.
• Ability to work in an agile environment, adapting to changing project needs and priorities.
